SPACE SAVVY

As culinary and entertainment spaces evolve into multifunctional hubs that merge aesthetics with storage solutions, the modern larder cabinet has emerged at the forefront of kitchen design. In this month’s blog, we look at the new Greenfield larder-inspired cabinet configuration and inserts!

What is a Larder Cabinet?

Found in U.S. kitchens starting in the 19th century, larder cabinets provided homeowners with convenient and practical storage for perishables. These cabinets are designed to maximize space while keeping essentials easily accessible.

Our Larder-inspired Cabinet and Insert Options

The new Greenfield larder cabinets with hide-away doors are designed to sit on a finished surface and are perfect for coffee or wine bar configurations. We start with the outer shell which is sized to a homeowner’s specifications. The outer shell is available in both Full Access and Framed Modern Overlay construction, and offered in a wide variety of materials, finishes and door styles.

Shown: the cabinet is Greenfield Cabinetry, Sebago 275 A door style, Paint Grade material, Herbal paint, Matte sheen, with a Natural Walnut cabinet insert.

For the larder storage inserts, we offer four different choices that feature a variety of storage options, including adjustable shelving, a fixed bottom drawer box with a touch latch and pull-out component shelf, 4 ½“ wine bottle cubbies with wood stemware holders, or additional wine bottle shelves (All pictured below left to right). We note that the insert can be constructed with a different finish and material than the outer shell, to create a one-of-a-kind look for the client.
